Congress asks YSRCP to withdraw bandh call
Hyderabad, August 29: Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy on Wednesday asked the YSR Congress party to reconsider its call for Andhra Pradesh Bandh on August 31.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party, Venkataramana Reddy said that the State Government was keen to solve the power crisis and several efforts have already been made to address the issue. He said that the State has asked the Centre for additional supply of gas, coal and power. Therefore, taking the government's efforts into consideration, the YSR Congress party should withdraw its call for State Bandh, he said.
Venkataramana Reddy dismissed the YSRCLP's allegation that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was not giving an appointment to discuss the ongoing power crisis.
The Government Chief Whip also said that Telugu Desam Party has no moral right to stage agitations on the power issue and level allegations against the State Government. He alleged that all the opposition parties were trying to politicise the power crisis to draw mileage and damage the image of the government before people. He said that the government was ready to discuss all the issues in the next session of the Legislative Assembly to be convened soon.
