New Delhi, August 29: Minister for Rural Development and NREGS Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad Rao on Wednesday stated that Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh has assured to extend the mandays under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in the drought affected areas in the State.
Talking to media persons after emerging from the meeting with the Union Minister, Manikya Vara Prasad Rao said that Jairam Ramesh has agreed to increase the working days from 100 to 150 days in all drought hit mandals in the State. He said that the move by the Centre would benefit lakhs of farm labourers in drought-affected mandals and prevent migration of labour in search of work.
