Naidu asks Centre to restore peace in N-E States

Hyderabad, August 17 INN: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged the Centre to take immediate steps to maintain law and order and restore peace in the North Eastern States so that the affected people would get confidence for living in the places of their work.

In a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the TDP president said the recent violent incidents in Assam have left deep anguish and insecurity among the people of North Eastern states living in other parts of the country and it triggered an exodus to their home States. He said the citizens of North Eastern states residing in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other states have been leaving for their home states due to the feeling of insecurity on account of the rumors that they might be attacked.

Terming it as a matter of grave concern, Naidu said that the circumstances were detrimental to the integrity and democracy of the country and urged the Centre to act soon in restoring confidence among the citizens of NE States.
