Place Jalayagnam files before Assembly, demands Naidu

Hyderabad, August 29: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday once again raised the demand for placing all files of Jalayagnam including multipurpose Polavarm irrigation project before the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar for scrutiny by the opposition leaders.
In a open letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Telugu Desam president alleged that there was huge corruption, delay and cost escalations that reflects the inefficiency of the Kiran Government. He said the delays have been causing immense loss to the State's exchequer. He asked as to why the government was afraid of placing bids of Polavaram tenders if it was not involved in any corruption.
Naidu also criticised the State Government for its failure to get national status for both Polavaram and Pranahita-Chevella projects. He demanded that the government allow the opposition parties to scrutinise the bidders qualifications and eligibility for the projects like Polavaram and grant sanction later. He said that transparency should be maintained in the bidding process as allegations surfaced after awarding of contracts.
