Hyderabad, August 27: The YSR Congress Legislature Party on Monday demanded that a special session of the State Legislative Assembly be convened immediately to discuss the problems being faced by the people.
Addressing a press conference after the legislature party's meeting as Assembly's media point, YSRCLP deputy floor leader Shobha Nagi Reddy said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Speaker Nadendla Manohar convene the assembly session to discuss issues like power crisis, fee reimbursement and the death of infants in public hospitals in the State. She alleged that the ruling Congress party and main opposition Telugu Desam Party have colluded to avoid convening the assembly session to discuss issues concerning the general public.
Shobha Nagi Reddy said that the while the ministers and Congress leaders have focused their energies to dethrone Kiran Kumar Reddy from the post, the Chief Minister himself has dedicated himself to please the Congress High Command to save his seat of power. She alleged that the leaders of ruling party were working for personal gains while ignoring their prime responsibility of serving people. She said despite having 31 Lok Sabha MPs from the State, the Congress Government was unable to get sufficient support from the centre to resolve the power crisis.
Similarly, she alleged that the opposition TDP was running away from its responsibility of exposing the government's failures. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has aimed his activities on routine politics to ensure that he becomes the next Chief Minister.
Shoba Nagi Reddy said that the YSR Congress was the only party which has been raising issues concerning common people. Therefore, she insisted that a special session of the Legislative Assembly be convened to discuss and find solutions to the existing problems.
Of 17, as many as 13 MLAs attended the first meeting of the legislature party. The MLAs who could not participate in the meeting are party's honorary president YS Vijayamma, N Prasanna Kumar Reddy, Tellam Balaraju and K Chenna Keshava Reddy.
