Hyderabad, August 18: A delegation of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad members on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha appealing him to take necessary measures to protect the lives of thousands of Assamese staying in the city.

Talking to media persons at the State Secretariat later, VHP international president G Raghava Reddy said that the delegation has informed the Deputy CM over the atrocious behavior of some anti-social forces against the Assamese in Siddiq Nagar, the suburb of Hitech City. Being citizens of this country, Assamese have every rights to reside and work anywhere in the country. He appealed to Damodar Rajanarasimha to instill confidence and feeling of security in the hearts of Assamese apart from initiating stringent action against the anti-social elements in Siddiq Nagar area. He assured the Assamese that VHP and entire Hindu Society would stand by them.
