SC adjourns hearing on Jagan's bail plea to Sept 28

New Delhi, September 14 INN: The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on bail plea of YSR Congress Party president and Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to September 28.

The apex court headed by Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Ranjana Desai announced this decision after the hearing of arguments and counter arguments in this connection. The apex court said that it was yet to study the CBI counter petition filed against Jagan’s bail petition.

Jagan Mohan Reddy's lawyer Subrahmanyam argued that the chargesheet against his client was misleading and said that the MP should be granted bail as he has already spent more than 90 days in jail. Though the CBI filed three charge sheets against Jagan before his arrest, the counsel said it has failed to file supplementary charge sheet and resorting to delaying tactics under the influence of some political leaders. However, the CBI counsel Mohan Jain opposed the bail on the grounds that Jagan might influence the case and tamper with the evidence.

The MP, who was arrested on May 27 this year, had moved the Supreme Court for bail against the AP High Court orders, which denied him the bail on July 4.
