CM enjoys no clout in Delhi, alleges Shankar Rao


Hyderabad, October 9 : Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Tuesday targeted Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy while accusing him of having of not having any clout in New Delhi.

 Talking to reporters at Assembly media point, Dr Shankar Rao said that the Chief Minister lacks any influence at the Centre. He said despite being the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he failed to get Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's appointment for laying the foundation stone for Metro Rail project. He said that the Prime Minister's Office has out rightly rejected Kiran Kumar Reddy's plea that Prime Minister spend some time for the Metro Rail project during his visit to the city on October 16.

Dr Shankar Rao said that PMO's refusal clearly shows that the Chief Minister lacks any clout in New Delhi or before the Congress High Command.

The former minister slammed Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venakaiah Naidu for targeting the Congress party. Asking the BJP to explain its contribution for the growth and stability of the country, he said that Nehru-Gandhi family has made many sacrifices for the nation. He also asked Venkaiah Naidu to explain his contribution for the farmers, SCs and STs of his native district Nellore. He alleged that despite holding the post of national president of BJP, Venkaiah Naidu failed to do anything for the his native districts.

Dr Shankar Rao also condemned Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks against Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. He claimed that he could beat Narendra Modi in the ensuing assembly elections from any seat in Gujarat.
