Vimalakka, 31 others sent to jail for damaging KBR's statue

Hyderabad, Sept 24: A metropolitan court at Rajendranagar on Monday remanded Telangana United Front leader Vimalakka and 31 others to judicial custody for 14 days in connection with defacing of former chief minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy’s statue at Banjara Hills.
Following the court directions, the police have shifted Vimalakka to Women's Prison at Chanchalguda Jail and others to Cherlapalli Jail. Earlier, the police arrested Vimalakka from her residence in Ashok Nagar and brought her to the Banjara Hills police station. After completion of medical examination at Osmania General Hospital, the police produced Vimalakka before the court.

Defending the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy’s statue defacing, Vimalakka described the former Chief Minister as a traitor of Telangana and responsible for death of hundreds of students. She also came down heavily on the government for installing the statues of such leaders which continue to provoke the Telangana people. Meanwhile, the Telangana activists opposed the arrest of Vimalakka.
