Congress legislators to inspect public hospitals

Hyderabad, Sept 24: A delegation of Congress MLAs and MLCs would soon visit all the government hospitals in the State and submit a comprehensive report to the government over their functioning.

AICC secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday said that the party has taken this decision in the wake of allegations that the government hospitals have no proper infrastructure facilities and poor maintenance. Talking to media persons at Assembly premises, he said that as part of visit, the delegation of MLAs and MLCs would first visit Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital and Niloufer Hospital in the State capital to review their functioning.

After visiting the hospitals in Hyderabad, he said that the delegation would visit all hospitals in the districts and submit a comprehensive report with all facts to the government. Though the government spending crores of rupees on the hospitals, he asked as to why they were lagging behind in infrastructure and other facilities. He also asked the government to send a health inspection team to conduct surprise visits on all hospitals to know the actual conditions before the visit of MLAs and MLCs.
