Vijayamma launches two-day dharna on Fee Reimbursement

Hyderabad, Sept 6: The YSR Congress party on Thursday launched a two-day dharna in protest against the Fee Reimbursement policy of the State Government.

Addressing the dharna at Indira Park, YSRCP Honorary President YS Vijaya Lakshmi criticised the State Government for diluting the Fee Reimbursement scheme. She said the recent amendments in the policy have put the future of lakhs of students at stake. She alleged that the government was not concerned about the students' welfare and slowly it was trying to scrap the Fee Reimbursement scheme.

Stating that former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy launched the scheme to ensure that poor students pursue higher education without worrying about financial burden, Vijayamma said that the present Congress Government has diluted the scheme without considering its impact on the students and their parents. She said that the students of Backward Classes, OBCs, minorities and other castes were badly affected due to the recent policy.  She demanded that the State Government fully reimburse the fee for all students and continue the scheme in its original form.

The YSRCP leader also ridiculed TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's claim that Fee Reimbursement was his scheme. She promised that Jagan Mohan Reddy would implement all the schemes started by YSR after coming to power in the next elections.

NTR's widow Lakshmi Parvati, YSRCP MLAs and other senior leaders, students from neighbouring districts and representatives of NGOs also participated in the dharna.
