Hyderabad, Sept 6: Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday called on Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and appraised him of the travails of the farmers of Delta and other regions in the wake of deficient rainfall.
Talking to reporters later, Naidu alleged that the State Government did not sent any report on the damages or losses caused due to deficient rainfall in the State to the Centre. He said that the Agriculture Minister assured him of providing assistance to the farmers after the receipt of report from the State. Accusing Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of having failed to control the administration, he said that the farmers were suffering due to the irresponsible behaviour of the State Government.
Naidu said that lakhs of farmers were not getting irrigation water due to non-receipt of proper inflows into the reservoirs. However, he said that the State Government failed to realise the gravity of the situation and did not seek any help from the Centres. He said other States would have got a lot of financial assistance from the Centre if they would have faced similar situation.
The TDP president also urged the Agriculture Minister to take immediate measures to overcome the shortage of fodder, seeds and fertilizers in Andhra Pradesh. He also demanded stern action against the indiscriminate hoarding by black-marketers.
Naidu also claimed that Sharad Pawar has also extended the TDP's move to give political reservation for the Backward Classes.
