Anantapur, September 27 INN: In protest against Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh over the Telangana issue, Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi leader Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy on Thursday submitted his resignation from the party's primary membership and General Secretary's posts.
Talking to media persons here, Rajasekhar Reddy said that he was sending his resignation letter to Chandrababu Naidu as he did not mention a word about Rayalaseema region in the letter written to the Prime Minister. He said he was pained over the letter and promised that he would continue his agitation for protecting the rights and self-respect of Rayalaseema people.
Stating that he was not against giving letter to the Centre over the formation of Telangana state, he said that the coterie surrounding Naidu was diverting his attention to get mileage on statehood. If Naidu follows the coterie's suggestions, he said that the party would suffer a huge damage.
Byreddy alleged that the leaders, who were showing interest in becoming the chief minister and ministers from the Telangana region, have failed to fulfill the aspirations of region people. Before taking a decision on Telangana, he said that the Centre should mention the status of Rayalaseema. He reiterated that he would launch 40-days Rayalaseema Atma-Gaurav Yatra from October 2 covering four districts of the region.
