Nagam slams Aruna's Delhi visit over Telangana

Hyderabad, October 10 : Telangana Nagara Samithi president and Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday alleged that Information and Public Relations Minister DK Aruna visited New Delhi over the Telangana issue at the instance of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and some Seemandhra leaders.

Talking to reporters at the media point of State Secretariat, Janardhan Reddy alleged that Aruna, who never participated in the statehood agitation, went to New Delhi without any strong provocation to meet the Central leaders over the Telangana issue. He said that the statehood for the region could not be achieved without united efforts of all leaders across party lines.

Nagam described Aruna's visit to the national capital as the a political stunt to dilute the actual statehood agitation.

The Nagarkurnool MLA said that the Telangana issue should be discussed during the ongoing global biodiversity conference. He said that it was strange that the government was willing to speak on the issues related to protection of animals and plants, but was not concerned about discussing the precious human lives. He said hundreds of youth committed suicide demanding statehood for the region and the same should be discussed at all platforms.

Nagam also questioned the rationale behind spending nearly Rs 600 crore for the biodiversity meet. He asked the State Government to explain as to what it would achieve by making such a huge expenditure.
