Beautification of Mir Alam Tank to begin soon



Hyderabad, October 3 : The State Government will soon take measures for the protection and beautification of historic Mir Alam Tank in the Old City.

This was announced by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy while participating in the 58th Vanya Prani Saptah celebrations held at Nehru Zoological Park here on Wednesday. While assuring financial support for the development of Zoo Park, the Chief Minister also made referential remarks regarding the Mir Alam Tank adjacent to the zoo. He informed that the government also proposes to construct a necklace road around the Mir Alam Tank.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to protect the wild animals. He also advised the forests guards to take all measures for the protection of animals.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister released a Gaur (Indian Bison) into the enclosure. The Nehru Zoological Park management has procured two female Gaurs from Mysore Zoo Park under animal exchange program to facilitate pairing for the two male Gaurs which are already there in the park. He also flagged off battery operated transit system and inaugurated an Orientation Hall "Bio-Scope".

The Chief Minister also released a booklet on the Tiger Reserves and Protected Areas of Andhra Pradesh, a brochure on Nehru Zoological Park and a poster to commemorate the 58th Vanya Prani Saptah celebrations. The children who have won prizes in various competitions conducted in connection with the Vanya Prani Saptah were also given prizes.

Forests Minister S Vijayarama Raju, Rajya Sabha member MA Khan, MLAs Ahmed Pasha Quadri and Mohammad Maozam Khan and MLC MS Prabhakar were also present. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests SV Kumar welcomed the gathering.
