Hyderabad, September 25 INN: The Task Force, which was constituted to inspects the infrastructure and other facilities in private unaided, engineering colleges in the State, has taken a decision to conduct raids on colleges from first week of October.
At a high level meeting convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha with the officials of AP State Council of Higher Education took a unanimous decision in this regard. Rajanarasimha said that the raids would be in line with the High Court orders. He said that earlier we have extended the deadline for colleges to upload the data requested in the proforma by September 30. “A list of 100 colleges will be selected at random by computer and each month we will inspect one batch of colleges,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the meeting also decided to serve notices on those colleges who violated norms while filling management quota seats.
Meanwhile, the private colleges which were granted a fee hike from 2012-13 are likely to file a petition in the Supreme Court by end of the week for a stay on the inspections. According to sources, the private colleges have taken exception to the role of the Task Force and inclusion of representatives from police and audit department for inspecting the infrastructure and faculty ratio of these colleges.
