Shankar Rao slams Home Minister over ASP's suspension

Hyderabad, Sept 9: Former Congress minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Sunday came down heavily on Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, Dr Shankar Rao said that Rampachodavaram Assistant Superintendent of Police Naveen Kumar has become the scapegoat due to ganja smugglers in East Godavari district as he hailed from the Telangana region. Demanding suspension of Superintendent of Police Trivikram Verma for his alleged involvement in smuggling of ganja and threatening the ASP with serious consequences, he said that the government should order impartial probe into the entire issue and take action against the guilty officials.

Dr Shankar Rao suspected Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy's hand behind the smuggling of Ganja from the district. He said that he had written letters to the CBI and CVC in this regard seeking probe into the issue.

The former minister also alleged that 26 acres of land allotted to Raheja Group has been misused and demanded that the government take back those lands immediately. Responding to Telangana statehood issue, he said that the Congress president Sonia Gandhi would make a clear statement by the end of this month.
