RDO registers case against SE Minister


Vijayawada, September 28 INN: Vijayawada Revenue Divisional Officer on Friday registered a case against Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasarathy for concealing Economic Offences case pending against him in his election affidavit filed in 2009 Assembly polls.

 The revenue officials of Penamaluru Assembly constituency filed the case following directions from the Election Commission of India, Krishna District Collector and Returning Officer M Jyothy Budha Prasad against the Minister in the First Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Vijayawada, under Sections 125A, Representation of People’s Act 33 and IPC section 177.

It may be recalled that the Economic Offences Court sentenced Parthasarathy to two months imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs 5.15 lakh on him in a case related to violation of FERA in 1999. The minister paid the penalty and approached the High court against imprisonment. 

In his election affidavit, the Minister did not mention that a case pending was against him in the Economic Offences court before the Election Commission of India while contesting 2009 assembly polls.
