Hyderabad, September 16 INN: Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday stated that the UPA Government has no moral right to continue in power for its alleged involvement in various scams.
Talking to media persons at the party office at Nampally, Venkaiah Naidu accused Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh of allowing the Foreign Direct Investment in various sectors in order to divert the attention of people from Coalgate scam.
The FDI in retail sector would completely ruin the small and medium businesses and many people would lose their livelihood, he said. Stating that the BJP was not against reforms, he said that the party was opposed to the FDI in retail sector.
As the UPA government has totally failed to protect the interests of the country, he said that it has no moral right to continue in power. He said that the Prime Minister should step down immediately paving the way for mid-term elections.
The BJP leader also came down heavily on Oil Marketing companies for restricting six cylinders per family per year. He said that the subsidy on gas should be lifted for officials having income of more than Rs 6 lakh per annum. He called upon all sections of people to participate in the nationwide bandh on September 20 in protest against corruption and FDI in retail sector.
