Hyderabad, September 21 INN: Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare Sunitha Laxma Reddy informed the State Legislative Assembly that the State Government was implementing several programmes to bring in attitudinal change among the juveniles in the State.
In her reply to a question raised by MLA R Surya Prakasa Rao during Question Hour, the minister said that there were 21 Juvenile Homes functioning in the State. The programmes and activities for the welfare of juveniles include mainstreaming of children to regular outside schools, professional psychological counselling services and training for the frontline workers of Juvenile Homes and to the members of Special Juvenile Police Units including Railway Police to bring child-friendly attitude.
Sunitha Laxma Reddy said that the children above 14 years were being provided in training in vocational trades and trained children got placements for their rehabilitation. In accordance with the existing laws, she said amenities such as nutritious dies and protected drinking water, clothing and bedding, recreation facilities, sports and medical care facilities were being provided to the children.
