GHMC officials are taking us lightly, complains Congress corporators

Hyderabad, Sept 3: The Congress corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation have complained that they were being taken lightly by the GHMC officials and their instructions were not being followed properly.
Participating in a meeting at the Jubilee Hall, the Congress corporators said that the elected representatives have lost relevance in the GHMC and the officials were resorting to misuse of funds without taking up any developmental activities. However, the corporators were facing the wrath of the common people for lack of amenities in their respective divisions. The corporators' meeting, chaired by Labour Minister and GHMC Congress president D Nagender, passed a unanimous resolution demanded that the State Government instruct the officials to listen to the corporators.
The corporators' also passed a resolution congratulating Congress president Sonia Gandhi for being declared the fifth most power woman in the world. They have also invited AICC Secretary Rahul Gandhi to Hyderabad to launch Sadbhavana Yatra from the city. The corporators welcomed the government's decision to legislate the SC, ST Sub-Plan and its stand on the Fee Reimbursement issue. However, they expressed regret that they were not being involved in the works relating to COP-11 event to be held in October.
The meeting passed seven different resolutions including paying homage to former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Speaking on the occasion, Nagender said that it was YSR's dream to make Hyderabad a world-class city and it was due to his vision that the Hyderabad was converted into Greater Hyderabad. He also assured that the corporators that he would speaks to the officials, including GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu, to take local corporators into confidence for all the developmental activities.
MLC MS Prabhakar, Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar, Congress floor leader Kaleru Venkatesh and other leaders were also present.
