Hyderabad, September 22 INN: Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Saturday denied the reports that various pharmacy colleges in the State have admitted students into B Pharmacy course without following the norms of Pharmacy Council of India.
Replying to a question raised by MLA K Rambhupal Reddy and others during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly, the Deputy Chief Minister said that admission into professional courses including B Pharmacy were made as per the intakes approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. He said Pharmacy Council of India regulates the Pharmacy profession and it was insisting tha tthe maximum intake in B Pharmacy shall not exceed 100 to recognise the colleges under PCI norms.
Rajanarasimha said that from the year 2012-2013, EAMCET admission committee has decided to follow the PCI norms of intake. Further, he also denied that due to irregular admissions contrary to the directions of PCI, during the academic year 2012-13 more than 6,000 students were affected. He said that admission into B Pharmacy courses during 2012-13 were still under process.
