Hyderabad, September 15 INN: Communist Party of India national secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for allowing Foreign Direct Investment in various sectors including aviation and retail business sectors.
Talking to media persons here, the CPI leader said that the government’s unilateral decision would lead the country into serious consequences apart from directly affecting two crore people working in the unorganized sector and about four crore families who are dependent on them would lose their livelihood indirectly. He said that the investments in retail business sector would make the indigenous industries less competent and many people working in those industries would lose their jobs due to lack of healthy competitiveness.
Sudhakar Reddy appealed to the Prime Minister to review his decision immediately in the interests of people of the country. He alleged that the government allowed FDI in aviation sector bowing to pressure of a few multinational companies. He warned that his party would intensify agitation against FDIs until the government reviews its decision.
