CLP slams TDP for boycotting BAC meeting

Hyderabad, September 16 INN: The Congress Legislature Party on Sunday accused the main opposition Telugu Desam Party of trying to escape from its responsibilities by adopting a non-serious attitude towards the monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly.

Talking to reporters at the CLP office, Government Chief Whip Gandra Venktaramana Reddy alleged that the TDP was not serious about participating in the debates in the Assembly. Instead, he said that the TDP was more focused on holding street protests to defame the government. He said that the government has agreed to hold five-day session to discuss major issues including SC/ST Sub-Plan, Fee Reimbursement, power crisis, health and drinking water problems.

However, Venkataramana Reddy said that by boycotting the meeting of Business Advisory Committee on Sunday, the TDP gave clear indications that it was not serious about discussing public issues in the House. Defending N Kiran Kumar Reddy's absence from the BAC meeting, he said that the Chief Minister was in Mahabubnagar district in order to meet and resolve the problems being faced by the people.

Regarding demands for Telangana resolution in the Assembly, he said that the decision on statehood issue was pending with the Centre and it would be resolved soon. He appealed to the opposition parties to cooperate with the government in conducting fruitful and healthy discussions in the House over public issues.
