Hyderabad, September 20 INN: Civil Supplies Minister D Sreedhar Babu on Thursday claimed that the bio-metric card system introduced on experimental basis Maheshwaram mandal was working fine.
Replying to a question raised by MLA A Rajender in the Legislative Assembly during Question Hour, the minister informed that a system for supply of essential commodities through POS Devised and smart cards based on Aadhar was launched in Maheshwaram mandal on January 28, 2011, on pilot basis. He said the system was working well and resulting in savings of rice and kerosene oil and in fact, the government was striving for improvements in the existing system. The existing system is working in off-line and government is planning to improve the system by going for online authentication, he said.
