Hyderabad, September 11 INN: All arrangements are in place for the conduct of monsoon session of State Legislative Assembly and Council from September 17.
Interacting with the reporters in the Assembly premises here on Tuesday, Speaker Nadendla Manohar informed that the session would begin on September 17 at 9 am. The Business Advisory Committee will meet on September 16 at 11 am to finalise the agenda for session. The Speaker will also hold a meeting with Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew on September 13 to review the progress of assurances given on the floor of the House.
Giving details of the last sessions, the Speaker said that the 13th Assembly has so far worked on 145 days. In the last session, as many as 3,150 questions were raised and of them, 996 have been replied. A total of 80 Bills were also passed. He informed that 601 questions were now at the admission stage. During Zero Hour, 697 questions were raised. The last session carried out business for 504.30 minutes and of this, 32.01 hours or about eight per cent of the time was wasted due to uproar.
Manohar said that from now the details of the Assembly session would be uploaded on the website. He also informed that efforts were on introduce solar power in the assembly premises on the lines of Rajasthan Assembly.
The Speaker said that the State Government has assured to release Rs 81 crore for providing drinking water in the flouride affected areas of Nalgonda district where the a team of legislators visited to study the problem. Further, he said the Andhra Pradesh State Public Service Commission has been asked to initiate the process for filling up vacancies in the State Legislative Assembly.
Manohar also stressed the need for training the MLAs in carrying out their duties as elected representatives of the people. He said many MLAs did not properly utilise the Area Development Fund. Therefore, seminars would be held for the MLAs and officials to brief them on the effective utilisation of Area Development Fund. Similarly, orientation courses would be held for MLAs to make them aware of schemes related to MMR - IMR, Aangawadi, School Classrooms, driunking water, toilets, PHCs, sanitation and market yard.
The Speaker appealed to the MLAs to participate in fruitful debate on public issues like SC, ST Sub-Plan. He also requested the media to ensure proper and objective coverage of the assembly session.
