AP aims to draw global investments in ICT sector

Hyderabad, Sept 6: Minister for Information Technology and Communication Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Thursday stated that the State Government was taking all measures to make the Andhra Pradesh the most competitive and investor friendly destination in the Information and Communications Technology globally.
Talking to reporters at media point in the State Secretariat after emerging from meeting with IT and ITES Industry Association president V Rajanna at his chambers, the Minister said that the recommendations presented by Industry Association would act as guiding principle in promoting the IT industry in AP. He said that the government would take all necessary measures to implement the recommendations as they would make the AP most competitive and investors friendly.
The minister said that certain Central government related issues including 20 percent cap in SEZ Human Resources migration and increasing the air connectivity to Europe and North America through direct flights would be pursued with concerned Ministries in New Delhi. Stating that measures were being taken to promote investments in Tier I and II cities, he said that the State has occupied 4th position in the IT exports.
Apart from this, the government was adopting preferential policies towards IT industries to promote their exports, he said.
IT and ITES Industry Association president V Rajanna appealed to Ponnala lakshmaiah to appoint an IAS cadre person to promote IT investments in Tier I and II cities. IT Secretary Sanjay Jaju was also present.
