Eluru, Aug 13: YSR Congress Party honorary president YS
Vijayalakshmi demanded that the government continue fee reimbursement scheme
without any changes.
Addressing
a massive gathering at Eluru organised to protest against the proposed chances
in the Fee Reimbursement scheme on Monday, Vijayalakshmi said that parents of
the students were suspecting trouble due to delay in engineering counseling and
they were are in a dilemma. Former chief minister YS Rajshekhar Reddy launched
the fee reimbursement scheme to ensure that poor students too realise the dream
of pursuing higher education. But the present Congress Government has shattered
the dreams of lakhs of students in the State, she said.
Vijayalakshmi
pointed out that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has promised to continue
YSR's schemes after taking charge of his post. But now it appears that the
government is trying to scrap the scheme, she lamented. She assured the parents
that YSR Congress party would not allow injustice to them.
Claiming
that welfare and development have been the two eyes of her husband and former
chief minister Rajasekhara Reddy, she said that the present leadership was
incapable of getting funds or sanctions for the welfare schemes from the
centre. Party leaders, MLAs, and activists including the presents participated
in the protest held at a large scale.
Former
TDP leaders K Nani and S Krishna Ranga Rao, who have recently joined the YSRC
Party, also took part in the protest.
