Shankar Rao describes CM as "weak captain"

Hyderabad, Aug 14 : Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Tuesday referred to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar as a bad 'captain' whose team members are falling apart, one by one.

Talking to reporters in the Legislative Assembly premises, Dr Shankar Rao said that the Chief Minister was proving to be a very bad captain. "One wicket was already down and another has just fallen," he said while referring to the arrest of former Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana and and now the naming of Roads and Buildings Minister B Dharmana Prasad Rao as the accused in Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy's assets case.

Dr Shankar Rao alleged that the Chief Minister was shielding the corrupt ministers. He said that the ministers who have been served notices by the Supreme Court in connection with 26 controversial GOs that allegedly favoured Jaganmohan Reddy amass illegal wealth should resign from the cabinet. Else, he demanded that the Chief Minister dismiss them from the cabinet.

He said that sheilding tainted minister would spoil the image of the Congress party and the Government.  He said no one would be ready to contest on the Congress ticket during the next elections, if immediate measures were not taken to save party's image. He said he would soon brief Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi about the real situation prevailing in the State and would demand total reshuffled of State cabinet.
