Hyderabad, June 29 : Senior MLC KR Amos on Sunday claimed that he was not in the race for the post of Chairman of Telangana State Legislative Council.
Speaking to INN, Amos, who had recently quit Congress to join the TRS, said that he was never in the race for any post. He made it clear that he had quit Congress party for the reason that it ignored minorities. He said despite strong opposition from a majority of MLCs, Srinivas was appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council purely on the basis of money. He said a young and active leader like Mohammad Ali Shabbir was ignored by the party while a tainted leader like Srinivas was selected for the top post.
Amos said he never aspired for any posts during his long political career. He said he joined the TRS on the basis of principles and not for the posts. He expressed ignorance about his candidature being considered by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for the post. However, he advocated the candidature of Swamy Goud for the top post. He said Swamy Goud had played an active role in Telangana movement and his nomination should be considered.
Amos advised the Congress party to leave the post of Chairman and Deputy Chairman for the TRS instead of contesting the same. INN
