Minorities Welfare Dept launches four services through Mee Seva

Hyderabad, Feb 28 : Chief Secretary Dr PK Mohanty launched four citizen services of Minorities Welfare Department through Mee Seva at the State Secretariat here on Friday.

Briefing the media persons, Minorities Welfare Department Special Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel and Minorities Welfare Commissioner and Wakf Board Special Officer SM Iqbal said that people, through Mee Seva Centres, would now be able to get certified copies of Service Rendering Certificate for Cash Grant; Muntakhab of Registered Wakf Property; Proceedings regarding Constitution of Managing Committees and Proceedings regarding Appointment of Muthawalli. All the four services pertain to the Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board.

Iqbal said that in the erstwhile Hyderabad State all the religious matters including Endowment and Wakf institutions were administered and controlled by the Department of Umoor-e-Mazhabi. Subsequently, Wakf Board was established in the year 1955 after enforcement of Wakf Act 1954, containing 70 sections. Later, Wakf Act, 1995, came into existence with 113 sections, while repealing Wakf Act, 1954. In the year 2013, the Central Government amended the Wakf Act, 1995, by Act No. 27/2013 by deleting and introducing certain sections in the Wakf Act 1995, which came into force form November 1, 2013.

He said that the four services were being launched through Mee Seva Centres to provide fast and better facilities to citizens in general and minorities in particular.

The cost of certified copies will be Rs 50 each and the delivery period will be 15 minutes. The applicants have to be authorised persons and need to fulfill the prescribed form available with Mee Seva Centres along with proofs to be enclosed as required in the format.

He said that the Wakf Board was contemplating to provide further services to the citizens to bring more transparency and accountability in its functioning. (INN)
