Hyderabad, Feb 27 (INN): Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy inspected the new rake of AC double decker train which arrived at Secunderabad Station on Thursday.
The state-of-the-art coaches, manufactured using the latest technology, feature a host of modern facilities for improved convenience and safety of passengers. This new rake will be utilized by South Central Railway for running AC double decker trains on Kacheguda-Tirupati and Kacheguda-Guntur routes marking another milestone in providing modern, improved services to passengers.
Additional General Manager SCR Sunil Kumar Agarwal and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Explaining the salient features of the new Double Decker Train Rake, the SCR said that it is the first time that a Double Decker Rake has been allotted to the SCR. It consists of 14 – CZDAC Coaches (AC Chair Cars) and 3 Power Cars. These Coaches were produced at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The uniqueness of this rake is that it has been provided with VESDA (Very Early Smoke / Fire Detection with Alarm System). VESDA is being introduced in a Double Decker train for the first time in Indian Railways.
Using these modern coaches, SCR plans to operate Double Decker train services on Kacheguda-Tirupati (Bi-weekly) and Kacheguda-Guntur (Bi-weekly) routes in near future, as announced in Railway Budget-2014. (INN)
