"Reforms for Citizen-Centric Governance" Conference from Oct 5



Hyderabad, October 3 : The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances is organising a two-day Regional Conference on `Reforms for Citizen-Centric Governance’ in collaboration with the State Government on October 05- 06, 2012.
 The Conference aims to create a platform to share experiences of the States in the field of reforms/initiatives undertaken by the departments of Administrative Reforms in the States/Union Territories to improve public service delivery, make the administration effective, transparent, accountable and citizen-friendly.
 
The Conference will be attended by the Secretary (ARPG&P), AR Secretaries and other senior officers of States / UTs.
 
According to a press release, in addition to the inaugural session, there will be two technical sessions. The first Technical session will have presentations on good governance initiatives that have been recognized at the national level and on the Recommendations of the 2nd Administrative Reforms followed by interactive sessions. The second Technical session will have presentations on ‘Best Practices’ besides, the status of the implementation of ARC recommendations by the participating States/UTs, namely, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and the host state, Andhra Pradesh. These presentations will be followed by interactive sessions.
 
The Regional Conferences are being organized with a view to bring National and State level organizations along with other stakeholders including NGOs, intelligentsia, media etc., on the same platform to share experiences in the formulation and implementation of good governance practices. Senior officers of the Central and State Governments responsible for implementing good governance practices including Citizen Charters, officials from cutting edge level, representatives of the NGOs/consumer organizations, etc. will participate in the Conference, according to the press release.
