Hyderabad, October 9 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's has travelled about 2,500 kms covering 55 constituencies in seven districts across Andhra Pradesh as part of Indiramma Baata programme. He is presently on his eighth leg of Indiramma Baata touring Prakasam district.
According to a release from the Chief Minister's Office, this is for the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh that a Chief Minister has stayed put in a district for three days continuously, extensively toured the interior areas, met the people and had lunch and dinner with them. "It is to be stated that people in large numbers attended all his meetings and interactions. Wherever he went, villagers thronged in large numbers, listened to him and explained their problems to him. Kiran Kumar Reddy patiently listened to the people's problems and gave on the spot instructions to the Collectors and other officials to solve issues. He also sanctioned projects and programmes worth hundreds on crores in each district," the release said.
The Chief Minister toured thandas, tribal hamlets, coastal areas, fishermen colonies, weavers colonies, farmers fields, schools particularly tribal schools and hostels and junior colleges. He had interactions with farmers, SHG women, students, tribals, weavers, college students, unemployed youth and fishermen. He spent much time with them to know their problems and how the welfare programmes initiated by the State Government are being implemented at ground level.
Kiran Kumar Reddy has reviewed with District Collectors and other officials all flagship programmes of the State Government like Re-1-a-kg rice scheme, Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu, Indiramma Housing, bank loans at zero per cent interest to farmers and SHG women, Indira Jala Prabha, MGNREGS, input subsidy distribution, Rajiv Arogyasri, Mee Seva, State Milk Mission, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries development, Indiramma Pensions, Streenidhi etc.,
Kiran Kumar Reddy has already toured East Godavari, Srikakulam, Khammam, West Godavari, Kurnool, Mahabubngar and Krishna for three days each. The Chief Minister, on the first leg of his Indiramma Baata, toured East Godavari District from July 14th to 16th. He then toured Srikakulam district from July 27th to 29th, Khammam from August 8th to 10th, West Godavari from August 17th to 19th, Kurnool from September 4th to 6th, Mahabubnagar from September 14th to 16th and Krishna district from September 25th to 27th. Now he is on his eighth leg of his Indiramma Baata touring Prakasam District from October 9th to 11th.
The Chief Minister is happy that the Indiramma Baata tours enabled him to get a first hand knowledge of the people's problems and ensure that the fruits of the welfare measures reach the real beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister pronounced the all important Sunnamvarigudem declaration for tribal welfare at Chunchupalli village of Khammam district on Tuesday during the Indiramma Baata. The declaration includes ensuring rights on the tribal lands, settling of all pending claims under Recognition of Forest Rights (ROFR)Act, speeding up these claims during the 2nd phase, development of ROFR lands under NREGS and to ensure rights to tribals on forest produce.
As part of the declaration 2,700 teacher posts have been sanctioned. He said special care will be taken on those habitations which have not been covered under education. All lift irrigation schemes in the tribal areas will be sanctioned under Indira Jala Prabha. Under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu, skill development centres will be established in all ITDA areas. All vacancies in tribal headquarters will be filled within the next six months.
Two new tribal battalions will be set up of which one will be exclusively for Primitive Tribal Groups. A study will be conducted to set up School Health Service in all the ashram and residential schools. The Chief Minister also inaugurated Indira Jala Prabha blocks in Chunchupalli. He said that Rs.1800 crores is being spent to develop the fallow lands belonging to SCs and STs under this programme.
There is a monitoring cell in the Planning Department which constantly monitors the assurances of the Chief Minister during the Indiramma Baata. The cell is in constant touch with various departments to see that the assurances of the Chief Minister are fulfilled at the earliest. The Chief Minister himself reviews the status of the programmes from time to time, the press release added.
