Telangana will be among major issues for next elections: Advani

Hyderabad, Sept 5: BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday announced that separate Telangana would be second major issue after corruption for the party for the next general elections.
Addressing the concluding function of party's three-day Telangana Poru Deeksha at Jantar Mantar here, Advani said if the UPA fails to give statehood for the region, then BJP would include formation of Telangana as the second issue in its election manifesto. He slammed the Congress party for going back on its promise of initiating the process of formation of Telangana.
Reiterating that smaller states were good for the nation, he said Telangana could ensure proper and focused development of the region. He praised the people of Telangana for their continued struggle for the statehood. He assured that the NDA would bifurcate Andhra Pradesh soon after coming to power.
Meanwhile, leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj stated that the formation of Telangana state would not be possible with the Congress party. Talking to media persons after participating in hunger fast undertaken by BJP State president G Kishan Reddy, she reiterated that the Telangana State formation would be possible with BJP only.
Accusing the Congress party of cheating the people of region on the statehood since many times, she asked the people to tolerate the labour pains in order to see the birth of Telangana. Stating that the dream of people of region was not far away, she said that the NDA government would immediately pass the bill on separate Telangana when it comes to power in the next general elections.
She asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao not to believe the Congress party's false promises. She also took serious note on KCR for spreading rumours that the Centre would announce its decision on bifurcation of State within two or three months. "I don't understand from where KCR was getting such false hints from the Centre," she said.
Earlier, Kishan Reddy called off his three days hunger fast after taking a lime juice offered by LK Advani. Senior BJP leaders from the State including Bandaru Dattatreyya, Ch Vidyasagar Rao and other were also present.
