Hyderabad, September 12 INN: Ministers and MLAs from Telangana region have started mounting pressure on the Congress High Command to announce Telangana Declaration before September 30.
Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy and BC Welfare Minister B Saraiah on Wednesday had a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha at the State Secretariat to discuss the future course of action on the Telangana issue. According to sources, the ministers were trying to get some statement from the Congress High Command about the statehood issue to ensure that they do not face the wrath of pro-Telangana leaders during TPJAC's Telangana March on September 30.
Sources say that the ministers and Congress MLAs from the region are worried that they would be subjected to criticism if they fail to mount pressure on the Centre before the proposed Telangana March. They are also seeking an appointment with Sonia Gandhi and have reportedly prepared a two-paragraph letter for the same.
The ministers and MLAs were under pressure especially after Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's recent statement linking naxalism with the demand for Telangana. On the other hand, TRS, BJP and CPI have intensified their activities for the statehood. The TDP too is likely to issue a letter on the statehood issue. In view of these developments, the Telangana ministers are trying to mount pressure on the Centre to announce Telangana declaration before September 30.
