Hyderabad, Se4ptember 26 INN: Director General (Law and Order) S A Huda on Wednesday said that the police have got inputs from the Intelligence wing that the properties of Seemandhra leaders and businessmen would be attacked during the Telangana March scheduled to be held on September 30.
Talking to media persons at his office, Huda said that the Intelligence reports have revealed that the March might create law and order problem apart from causing huge damage to properties of Seemandhra people, who settled in the Telangana region since a long time. He said that the activists might resort to violence in Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, High-Tech City, near Assembly and Secretariat premises. However, he said that police were making all efforts to protect the properties of Seemandhra people and government by ensuring peaceful conduct of March.
Taking the past experiences of violence into consideration during the Million March on Tank Bund last year, Huda said that the police have not yet given permission to the Telangana March as Ganesh immersion and Conference on Biodiversity were falling on September 29 and October 1. He said that the government has set up check posts surrounding Hyderabad and intensified patrolling in the city to prevent untoward incidents.
Huda said that this time the police would not be a mute spectator and would take stern against those who take law into their hands. Responding to a question, he said that the police have information that those people, against whom police slapped cases for participating in the statehood agitation, were not participating in the March this time. He said that the police might arrest the MPs and MLAs if they disturb law and order, he said.
The Additional DGP appealed to the people to cooperate with the police in this regard and maintain peace.
