Police arrest Jai Andhra leader near Vijayawada

Vijayawada, September 14 INN: Tension prevailed at Nandigama in Krishna district when the police resorted to arrest Jai Andhra movement leader Vasanth Nageswara Rao, who was on his way to attend a convention on Friday at Nandigama.

The police said that Nageswara Rao did not take any permission to organize the Jai Andhra Convention in Nandigama. Protesting against Rao's, the Jai Andhra activists had a heated argument with the police and staged dharna on the Chennai-Vijayawada national highway. They alleged that the police arrested Nageswara Rao at the behest of integrationist leaders.

Addressing the Jai Andhra leaders, Vasanth Nageswara Rao said that they would continue their agitation despite the obstructions of integrationists. He said that the police arrests would not deter the agitation and they would intensify their agitation soon to protect self-respect of Andhraites.
