Palwai demands adequate security for Telangana March

Hyderabad, September 25 INN: Rajya Sabha member Palwai Govardhan Reddy on Tuesday said that he would appeal to the Congress High Command to direct the State Government to provide proper security to the upcoming Telangana March on September 30.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Govardhan Reddy said that the government has to take all steps for the smooth conduct of Telangana March. Stating that the government has provided a security cover of 5,000 personnel for TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit in Telangana and YSRCP honorary president weavers' Deeksha in Sircilla, he asked as to why the government was showing partiality in providing security to Telangana March and treating it as a law and order problem. He said that he would take up these issues to the notice of High Command and seek the security cover.

“It is the responsibility of government to ensure that Telangana March remains free of violence by ensuring proper security cover,” Palwai said.

Congress MLC K R Amos said that everyone has freedom to express their feelings in a democracy. If the government gives permission for the March, he said that it would convey a message to 199 participating countries of Biodiversity Conference that the democracy in the State was strong. Stating that no one could stop Telangana state formation, he accused the vested interests of obstructing the bifurcation in order to protect their own selfish interests.
