Left parties demand extension of assembly session to 15 days

Hyderabad, September 17 INN: The leaders of Left parties on Monday demanded that the State Government extend the Assembly session from five days to 15 days to take up a healthy discussion on important public issues.

Talking to reporters at Assembly media point, Communist Party of India floor leader Gunda Mallesh said that five-day session of Assembly was not sufficient to discuss all prominent issues and the government has to extend the session to at least 15 days. Stating that one day of the session was already wasted, he called upon the government to come forward to take up a healthy discussion with all party leaders in the House for the remaining four days.

Mallesh also appealed to Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to stop adjourning the House frequently on flimsy reasons. He asked the government as to why it was not officially celebrating the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 while it was being officially observed in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He also criticised the government for delay in sanctioning of pensions for those who participated in freedom struggle from the Telangana region.

The CPI leader said that the Telangana statehood demand would not be diluted with offering of the Chief Minister’s post for the region and the conditions in the State would not set right with the change in Chief Minister of State.

CPI (M) Floor Leader Julakanti Rangareddy stated that the House should take up a discussion on dengue, malaria, and spread of other viral diseases in rural areas.
