Hyderabad, September 12 INN: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday granted Prisoner Transit warrant against Mehfuz Ali Khan, the personal assistant of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, the main accused in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation.
It may be mentioned that last week the CBI Court had rejected the PT warrant against Khan. However, the CBI approached the High Court against the CBI Court's decision and secured PT warrant. The CBI had sought the custody of Khan for further probe into the alleged illegal iron ore mining by Janardhan Reddy's OMC.
Khan, who was absconding after the arrest of Janardhan Reddy, surrendered before a court in Bengaluru on March 2 and is presently lodged in a prison there. He is arrested in a similar illegal mining case being probed by the CBI there.
The CBI, on March 23, filed a petition seeking PT warrant against Ali Khan stating that he has exclusive knowledge of the illegal mining activity of the OMC.
