Farmers need guidance for better crops, says Cong MLA

Hyderabad, September 12 INN: Congress MLA Ch Mutyam Reddy on Wednesday dismissed the reports of food scarcity in the State.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Legislature Party office, Mutyam Reddy said that there was no shortage of food in the State. However, he said that farmers were not being guided properly by the officials. He said the farmers were not required to import seeds from other countries. If properly sown, one acre of land could produce 50-60 quintals of rice in a single crop, he said.

Mutyam Reddy demanded that the State Government appoint one Agriculture Assistant for every 2000 acres of farming land. He said farmers should also be guided properly on the usage of fertilizers. He said with better coordination and guidance, food security and control on food prices could be ensured.
