Azad, Kiran pay rich tributes to Vinoba Bhave


Nalgonda, September 10 (INN): Congress in-charge of State and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday called upon the people to follow the ideals of Acharya Vinobha Bhave, the founder of Bhoodan movement in the country.



Participating as chief guest in the inauguration of World Peace Sammelan and Hostel of Sri Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute, at Pochampally in Nalgonda district along with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Azad recalled that Vinobha Bhave started his land gift movement at Pochampally on April 18,1951 after interacting with 40 Harijan family members and took it at national level by prevailing upon landlords to donate land to end poor and rich discrimination.

Azad said that he was announcing Rs 50 lakh for modernisation of Acharya Vinobha Bhave Ashram here. He assured the Chief Minister that he would release more funds for Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Bibinagar, after holding consultations with the Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the government would upgrade NIMS hospital with 150 bed strength. He also laid the foundation stone for road widening works from Kottagudem to Pochampally with a cost of Rs 6 crores.

Earlier, both Azad and Kiran Kumar Reddy garlanded the statue of Vinobha Bhave at Pochampally and paid rich floral tributes.
