Hyderabad, Sept: Information Technology and Communications Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Saturday said that the State Government would develop Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in an area of 50,000 acres surrounding the State capital including Gachibowli, Madhapur, Mamidipalli, Raviryal, Adibatla, Maheswaram, Uppal and Pocharam.
The IT Minister said that ITIRs would include Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Industrial Parks, Free Trade zones, Warehousing zones, export Oriented Units, Growth Centres, existing settlements and industries. He said that the ITIR Project would showcase Hyderabad as a premier IT Investment destination globally.
Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that the government also initiated other steps to promote IT in the State. They include formulation of hardware policy, setting up of hardware manufacturing clusters in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, broadband service to Panchayats with an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore under the National Optical Fibre project, Mee Seva, facility of video conferencing till Mandal headquarters and Aadhaar Based beneficiary Management system for welfare programmes.
