Saraiah ridicules YSRC's protest over fee reimbursement


Hyderabad, Aug 13: Condemning the protest of YSR Congress Party honorary president Vijayalakshmi on fee reimbursement at Eluru, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Baswaraju Saraiah termed the protest as political stunt.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office on Monday, the minister claimed that fee reimbursement issue was solved yesterday with the agreement between government and the managements of the colleges after Cabinet sub-committee decided to peg the amount of fee reimbursement up to Rs 35,000 and official notification to this effect would be issued very soon. He said that it is not proper on the part of Vijayalakshmi to continue her protest just to gain political mileage.

Saraiah also condemned the allegations leveled by YSRC party’s honorary president Vijayalakshmi against the congress government and termed them as baseless. He alleged that the YSRC party lacks vision and thoughts and asked Vijayalakshmi not to impose politics on students for selfish gains.

Speaking about separate Telangana, Saraiah claimed that the Telangana leaders were not interested in getting political or other posts, except for the statehood for the region. He also said that Kiran Kumar Reddy would remain the Chief Minister up to 2014 general elections or until the separate States were formed.

The minister also clarified that no cold war going on between the Chief Minister and Union Minister for Petroleum S Jaipal Reddy on the gas allocation issue. He denied the allegation that Jaipal Reddy failed to get Central funds for the State. He claimed so far Jaipal Reddy brought about Rs 170 crore from the Centres and was instrumental in getting sanction of funds for the districts in the State.
